System Five – Single Workstation Install
System Five uses the pervasive database engine to connect to the data which resides on the server. Pervasive has transactional and file components meaning file security and permissions for the users running System Five are very important.
Please ensure that there are no spaces in the directory names for Windward files
Requirements
Administrator Permissions for the Server Windward Share and all its files & SubFolders with full Read/Write
Typically, both System Five and Pervasive SQL installer are copied to the C:\windward\temp folder
Installation of Pervasive Engine on workstation
* Note: Where [Drive] is the drive that you will be installing to (Default being C: drive)
Installation of Windward System Five on workstation
Run [Drive]:\Windward\Temp\install.exe (If a new installation file has been downloaded use [Drive]:\Windward\Temp\s5install.exe)
Install to C:\Windward\System5 to do a local install, do not install to a remote drive.
Accept all other default settings. Finish installation
Shortcut on Workstation desktop is linked to C:\Windward\System5\Bin\systemfive.exe
Creating a New Company and Installing License Codes
From the Sign in screen click the install button. (If the install button is missing un-install the demo and install the full version.)
Click on create new company and click the next button.
Enter a directory name and click the next button.
Choose a country and click the next button.
Enter your fiscal year and click the next button.
Create your administrator password and click the next button.
Enter a name for your station and click the next button.
Click the fill in company information button.
Enter your license information EXACTLY as shown clicking the next button after each section.
Once complete, and you click FINISH, you have completed the single-user install.
Link an existing Workstation to data set
If you are linking to an existing dataset (i.e. from a backup, etc.)
Launch System Five from desktop shortcut.
Select “Link workstation to the existing networked company” and click next
Browse to Mapped network drive location [Drive]:\System5\Data (Or where 'Data' folder has another name eg: “MyCompany”)and click next
Assign a terminal number from available terminals and click 'Next'
You will then receive a message stating that your terminal has been set up. Click 'Finish' to continue
Troubleshooting
Version unsupported error when logging in
If you upgraded your operating system from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro, there are instances wherein the program might still detect the old OS.
Double-check the compatibility of the shortcut
Right-click on the shortcut
Select Properties
Select the Compatibility tab
Make sure that the Run this program in compatibility mode for is disabled
