The following article / template describes in detail different attributes of the POS Hardware that was sent to us from Toshiba Tech Canada.

The information included will include the following:

Make + Model: Toshiba TRST-A10 Receipt Printer
Driver: TRST-A10-EF

Configuration:

1. Connect the usb + power cable to the back of the printer, and the other usb end, to the back of the computer.

2. We will need to verify the printer is in Epson mode or not. Turn the printer off, and flip the dip switch #1 to on. (Dip switch is located on the bottom of printer.

3. After setting the dip switch to on, reset the printer by holding the receipt feed button, and reconnecting the power.

4. You are now in diagnostics mode. To verify the printer is in epson mode, press the feed button three times, and then hold the button down for one second to validate your menu choice. (Set Communication Interface Menu on receipt).

5. The printer will spit out a receipt asking you to Set Interface Type. Hold the feed button down for one second, to choose yes.

6. Next, the printer gives you three options. RS232/USB, RS232, or USB. Select USB by pressing the feed button three times, then hold the feed button down for one second to validate your choice.

7. Next, select no to setting the baud rate, stop bits, and flow control. When Select USB interface type appears, hold down the feed button for one second to choose yes.

8. You will have either the Vendor Specific or Printer Class options available. Select Printer Class by pressing the feed button. After completing this, press the feed button again, to say no to the Set CTS control question.

9. Once completing this, hold down the feed button to save your configuration. Then press the feed button once, and then hold it down for one second to exit the menu. Turn the printer over and flip dip switch #1 to off. Power cycle your printer, and now your printer should be in epson mode. (You can verify this by looking under Interface, and it should say printer class.)

10. Next, you will need to download the driver. The Windows Driver can be found at the following link:

11. Once the Windows driver has been installed, verify the printer is connected to the computer, and use the Add Hardware wizard to add the printer to Windows.

12. In the Add Hardware wizard, select the following options:

  • Yes I have already connected the hardware.
  • Add new hardware device
  • Install the hardware that I manually select from the list
  • Show All Devices


13. Once you have selected your printer driver .INF file, Windows will add the printer under Printers and Faxes. You have now successfully configured your TRST printer.





Make + Model: Toshiba OPOS Pole Display
Driver: OPOS / OPOS-Common Controls

Configuration:

1. Verify the pole display is connected to the terminal, via the power port on top of the POS terminal.

2. Once the pole display is connected, you will need the test utility to test the pole display. The OPOS drivers can be found here: http://www.toshibatec-ris.com/products/pos/download/driver_agreement.html

3. After the driver has been installed, you will need to verify which com port the pole display is using, open up a command prompt and issue the following commands to test out each comport: dir > com 1, dir > com2, dir > com3, dir > com4.

4. Once you have verified the com port of the pole display, navigate to C:\OPOS\Tec\ folder, and run the OPOSchk.exe tool to open up the pole display test software. Run the ACK test to display a series of tests on the pole display.

5. After the tests complete successfully, you will need to install the OPOS Common Controls drivers, and setup the pole display in the POS Device Manager.

6. Navigate to the following link to install the OPOS Common Controls drivers for the pole display: ftp://ftp.windward-ca.com/pub/special/OPOS_Common_Control_Objects.EXE

7. After installing the OPOS Common Controls drivers, you will need to restart your computer.

8. Once you have restarted your computer, open up POS Device Manager and select the OPOS tab. Under the Pole Display sub tab, verify you have selected the pole display device, under use this device.

9. As well under the Pole Display tab, select OPOS Pole Display in the drop down, as well as your pre-determined com port.

10. You have now successfully configured your Toshiba OPOS Pole Display!
