Windward WebStore

Administration::General

This page gives you access to modify general configuration options of the store. Here you will enter key information such as your customer service email address, shipping rules, and tax information.

Store Settings

The Store Settings section of the administration panel is broken into seven(7) fields.

  • 0 This is the email address that notifications of orders is received at. It is also the address from which the site visitor will receive email from when they complete an order.
  • 1 This flag determines how to handle the stock quantities on your website. Setting this flag to yes will allow inventory with zero(0) stock to display on your website and allow customers to order said inventory. Setting this flag to no will hide inventory with zero(0) stock and prevent customers from ordering those inventory items.
  • 2 Fully qualified URL to the script that the web store uses to display images contained within the stores inventory database.
  • 3 Fully qualified URL to the webstore script file.
  • 4 Fully qualified secure URL to the webstore script file.
  • 5 Your Windward System5 serial number. This is required if you wish to capture and import into System5 credit card numbers for payment of online orders.
  • 6 Store name. This is the name of your store as you want it to appear on your web site.

Shipping Table

The shipping table determines the amount that customers are charged for shipping. Based on the destination, and either weight or value of the order. The Index field indicates the precedence that should be applied to the shipping rule. If more than one shipping option applies to a customer's order, the lowest index will appear first. To delete a shipping rule, clear it's index (delete the value from the field). When adding a shipping rule, be sure to provide an index, otherwise the database won't be updated.

Shipping Constraints

Shipping constraints identify the region and country combinations that constitute valid shipping locations. These combinations also determine where a customer can create an account from. For example, if you service only Canada, ensure that no information for any other country is contained within this setup area. Thus, when a customer arrives at their site, they will only be able to create accounts and set shipping destinations for areas based in Canada.

Tax Setup

The E-commerce System uses a relatively simple table to determine which taxes are charged for a customer. The table consists of the following fields:

Country and State/Province

These fields identify the general geographic location of a customer. These are used to narrow the search for the correct tax settings. An asterisk (*) in the state/province field indicates that this row will match any state or province with the given country.

Postal/Zip Code Lower and Upper Ranges

The postal or zip code that the customer enters is used when greater precision is needed in determining which taxes to apply for a customer. If the search for country and state returns multiple rows, the zip code range fields are checked to determine which tax information to use.

Tax Code

The tax code is a special code that is used to identify which taxes to charge for a given customer that has been imported from Windward System Five.

Tax Type

A tax may be one of three types:

  • None
    • This tax is not used.
  • Percent
    • The value that appears in the Tax Amount column represents a percent of a part's value.
  • Fixed
    • The value that appears in the Tax Amount column is a fixed charge, independent of a part's value.

Tax Amount

For a percent-based tax, this field represents the tax that a customer is charged on applicable parts. For example, a value of 7.00 in this field represents 7.00%.

For a fixed tax, this field is a flat dollar value that is added to the price of a part. In this case, the value 7.00 would be interpreted as $7.00.

Edit Tax

If you must charge tax on shipping charges, you will set up that information here. You will note the amount, as a integer between 1 and 100 representing the percentage amount, and the tax number to add the tax on shipping to.

In addition, Australian users can set to use Tax Included pricing. This will display inventory costs with tax for Australian customers added in. Note: shopper must be logged in to the site for the prices to display properly. This is normal behavior as the E-Commerce application does not know a shoppers geographic location until they log into the site.

Tax Import XML

If you have exported your Tax settings from System5 via XML Central, you can upload that file, from your local hard drive to your web site.
