Windward Anywhere Monitor

This article gives an overview of the Windward Anywhere Monitor application. This application is used to monitor the status of the data exports being performed by the Windward Anywhere service application. (For the rest of this article, the application will be referred to as the Monitor application).

Note: The Windward Anywhere system is currently only installed on systems using WE-mail.

The Monitor application can be used to do the following:

  • define what data is to be exported by the Windward Anywhere system
  • modify the export schedule (advanced)
  • monitor multiple scheduled data exports and send out e-mail notifications to alert the user if it appears that the system has stopped these scheduled exports
  • view detailed message history outlining activities taken by the Windward Anywhere system when exporting data

Startup

The Monitor icon can be found on the desktop of the machine on which Windward Anywhere was installed - usually the server.

The Monitor main screen consists of the following items:

  • Configure… button - this will take you to the Configuration screen which allows you to define which data directory you want to export data from, as well as other advanced options
  • Export buttons - These buttons represent the different Export Types that are currently being monitored. In the picture above, the WEMail Upload and ECom Upload buttons represent two different data exports. Clicking on either button will display a list of any recent monitor messages related to each export. (The messages indicate whether or not the export has been performing regularly as scheduled.)
  • Last Check - indicates the last time the Monitor checked to see if the Windward Anywhere system had done any recent exports for the selected Export Type
  • Next Check - indicates the next time the Monitor will check to see if the Windward Anywhere system has done any exports for the selected Export Type
  • Last Status - indicates the status of the Windward Anywhere system at the time of the Last Check for the selected Export Type. Possible Statuses include:
    • Windward Anywhere app status has not been checked - this may be displayed when you first start up the Monitor application, before it has had a chance to check the status of the system
    • Windward Anywhere app is running - this indicates that an export has been performed within the defined Check interval as defined on the Configuration screen
    • Windward Anywhere application may be busy - this indicates that an export has NOT been performed within the defined Check interval as defined on the Configuration screen
    • Windward Anywhere app is not running - this indicates that an export has NOT been performed within the defined Past Due interval as defined on the Configuration screen
  • Next Export - indicates the time of the next scheduled export for the selected Export Type.
  • Data Directory - the data directory you are currently connected to is displayed on the bottom-left of the screen
  • View Log… button - displays detailed message history for activities and/or errors during data exports performed by the Windward Anywhere System (you must select an Export Type by clicking one of the Export buttons at the top of the window in order to enable this button)

The Settings tab page consists of the following items:

  • Data - select the data directory you will be using to export data
  • On-line Account Name - enter the e-mail address you use to access your myWindward site here
  • Password/Confirm Password - enter the password you use to access your myWindward site here

If the current computer name is selected and you do NOT want to use this computer to process data exports, click the Clear button.

Note: The On-line Account Name and Password combination is used to check for changes to your data export settings. When first setting up the Windward Anywhere system, if these values are incorrect the data exports will not start because the system cannot retrieve the export settings from the myWindward site.

Monitoring

The Monitoring tab page allows you to define if/how you want to monitor the different exports that have been set up. Exports that are monitored can optionally have a notification e-mail sent whenever an export fails to execute at the expected time.
