Problem Description

EI Reduced Rate - Employer rate reduction

Solution

EI can be reduced if an Employee has been granted short term disability plan. According to the CRA website, a reduced rate can be granted to allow the employer to calculate the employer portion of EI at a lower rate than the normal 1.40. It also states that the employer has a period of time in which they need to pass on the reduced rate tot he employee in the form of lower EI withholdings.

This tutorial demonstrates how to set the Employer factor at a reduced rate from teh standard 1.40 allowing for lower employer premiums to be calculated.
