Windows 10

WINDOWS 10 SUPPORT:

As you are probably aware, Microsoft released Windows 10 in July of 2015. An interesting aspect of this release was the pricing – anyone running a version of Windows was able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

Like most of Microsoft’s recent operating systems, Windows 10 came with a number of enhancements in all areas of their operating system. These enhancements change the behavior of various applications that run within their operating system – Windward’s System Five is no exception. Windward Software has spent a significant amount of time regression testing System Five in a Windows 10 environment. We are happy to say that System Five and Windward Payroll are fully compatible with Windows 10. The following Windward applications have been tested and are supported in Windows 10:

  • Windward System Five
  • Windward POS Device Manager
  • Windward WeCommerce
  • Windward WeMail
  • Windward Payroll

UNSUPPORTED THIRD PARTY INTEGRATIONS

While the majority of third party software integrations have been tested and are supported, the following integrations have not yet been thoroughly tested with System Five and Windows 10. If you currently use one of these integrations you will want to contact Windward Software before upgrading to Windows 10:

  • John Deere
  • Lease Quest / Dominion Lending
  • Lights America Showroom Interface
  • Parts Manager Pro by ProQuest
  • Parts Manager Pro by Snap On

This testing has to take into account the many different installation scenarios that encompass the many different clients that we support around the world. Our goal is to ensure that your business has the best chance possible for a smooth transition. As always, if you do have questions with respect to this process or any other process, connect with your Windward Software Account Manager!

Pervasive SQL

  • Pervasive 12 must be used for installs on new and upgraded Windows 10.
  • Pervasive 11 and 10 appear to work if you have them installed and perform an upgrade however we strongly recommend that you upgrade to Pervasive 12 first because if your windows 10 upgrade fails, you will be left inoperable.

Windows 10 Upgrades

Windows 10 has a not so nice feature of upgrading your system automatically. This can suddenly leave your system inoperable.
Most issues are with upgraded systems, not new installations of Windows 10. If you are encountering any problems with any software first try reinstalling the software.

How the change when and if the Windows 10 upgrade is done.
