If you are using an program that interfaces to System Five, the COM interface must be registered. Windows Vista, W7 does not allow this without running as an administrator.

Steps to Register System Five COM interface

Create the following Registry Key if it does not exist

System Five versions dated March 2016 and later won't need this reg file anymore as it will add it automatically if missing; just use the Register System Five instructions below to complete the COM setup in Windows.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{5826EC21-9D41-428F-80EA-0A41AECC2E4E}\1.0\0\win32]

You can put the following in a .reg file and then merge.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{5826EC21-9D41-428F-80EA-0A41AECC2E4E}]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{5826EC21-9D41-428F-80EA-0A41AECC2E4E}\1.0]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{5826EC21-9D41-428F-80EA-0A41AECC2E4E}\1.0\0]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{5826EC21-9D41-428F-80EA-0A41AECC2E4E}\1.0\0\win32]

Register System Five

  • Create a short cut to SystemFive.exe
  • edit the short cut and add the following parameter /REGSERVER
  • (Vista, W7) Right click on the short cut and select “Run as Administrator”. (or on the compatiblity tab of the short cut, Check Run this program as an administrator“ under Privilege Level)

The program will not run, it will just register then exit. If it runs, the process did not work.
